FingerPaints Enchanted Mermaid Collection

Hey peeps!  How's it goin?  It's time to look at another collection from FingerPaints(a brand you can find at Sally Beauty Supply) and this time it's made up of four delicious duochrome/irridencents.  It's called the Enchanted Mermaid collection and what I didn't notice til I had them home was that this is a textured polish collection.  In fact, right on the display, it says "with mermaid tail texture."
So I was wondering hmmm...what is this mermaid tail texture it speaks of.  Well if you'd like to see live application and watch this texture in action, you can do so here:

As you can see, the collection is made up of blues and greens and then a white-ish polish.  Let's go through them now.
First up is Sailor's Lure which is my favorite of the bunch.  The color shift on this one is so gorgeous- from blue, to purple, to pink- it makes my little heart sing!  BUT the texture RUINS it...*cry*  I just wish they could have promoted these shades without the texture.  I think it's gimmicky and the polishes would have all been better off without the mermaid tail-ness of it all...  Every polish has this same lumpy appearance and maybe this is totally you're thing and that's great, but I'm just saddened that such gorgeous colors had to be made foolish with the lumps. Let's move on.

This gorgeous teal that shifts to blue and green and back to teal again is called Tails of Love.  This is akin to some fabulous teal duochromes that have come before it, but the lumps make it bleh...  I'm trying to imagine it without it.  If you think I'm being overly dramatic, just watch the live application video, it's a mess when you apply it and it literally just looks like you got some gunk stuck in your manicure lol.  Such a beautiful color though- powerful!!

This one that flashes mostly metallic green, but goes gold and blue in some lights, is called Underwater Enchantress.  I think I need not express all over again how much better these would be without the texture...yada yada.  I love the color.  All the pictures are of two coats by the way.

Last up, we have Sea Temptress which is an opalescent polish that flashes pink and gold and a little green in there.  I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this shade and so all four colors ended up being rather lovely.

Overall they get an A+ for color- wow these polishes have some gorgeous pigmentation and we haven't seen a lot of duochrome polishes lately so it was good timing.  But wow did the texture take me for a ride.  I'm sorry to say I can't recommend these to you.  I honestly don't see myself ever wearing them :( which is sad because I do like textured polish.  I was bummed that these didn't turn out the way I hoped, but hey- you win some, you lose some.  Maybe I'm way off here...Did you try these and love them?  Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are, and if you enjoy the live application, don't forget to subscribe to my youtube.  It's free- all subscribing does is let you know on your feed when I've put up something new :)

I hope you're having a fabulous day and I'll see you back tomorrow!  xoxo

  1. I feel the same way about these polishes, the colors are lovely but that awful texture ruins them! I actually am a huge fan of texture, when done right. But these just look bumpy and lumpy and awful, not cute at all. It's almost like they screwed up and were like, "oh well let's call it a new type of texture and go with it!" Yuck :(
