Revlon Parfumerie

At Walgreens this month, the Revlon Parfumerie polishes are being clearanced for $2.99 and with the $2 off coupon in the December coupon booklet at the front of the store, you can pick up the whole set of Parfumeric polishes for just $.99 each.  I wanted to give you a rundown of all the polishes in the line so that you can pick and choose what you're going to haul- because at that price, you really should pick some of these up.  If you'd like to watch my live application video of all 17 polishes that Walgreens carries, you can find that here:

Let's look at some photos:
African Tea Rose really surprised me with how much I enjoyed it.  It's a hot pink that isn't obnoxious and it has some lovely subtle shimmer.

Autumn Spice was another surprise favorite for me.  It's this lovely chocolate with amazing copper shimmer running throughout.  AND it had a really pleasant scent.

Beachy is a sandy copper shimmer/frost that didn't really have yucky brush strokes, but all-in-all I felt like the color could have been a bit more saturated.

Bordeaux is a delicious red that leans wine and has a great two-coater cream formula.  It isn't anything you haven't seen before but the formula is easy.

Fresh Linen is a frosty cream and as you can see- at three coats it was still really sheer.  I didn't love this one.

Italian Leather was one of my favorites!  I love the formula on this dusty green/brown and the shimmer was unexpected.

Lavender Soap is a very pale lavender frost that was again, a kind of disappointment.  All the frosts in this collection had this same three-coater formula.

Moonlit Woods is another frost in the collection.  As you can see, another icky formula.  I like the notion of the color, but it just didn't work out.

Pink Pineapple had a really lovely scent but just look at this formula!  Such a sheer pink...I'd pass.

Spun Sugar is a metallic silver frost that has kind of this grungy feel.  The formula was actually ok at two coats.  It wasn't such a great color for me though.

Surf Spray was incredibly sheer at two coats, but it became this really lovely bright blue at three.  Even still, I wouldn't go crazy for this polish: a three-coater that you can still see vnl on...

Wild Violets is another one I really enjoyed!  This great two-coater has such a gorgeous finish and the color is perfection.  I'd definitely recommend this one.

China Flower is this super bright cherry red cream that has a great formula.  This one's a must-have if you're going to pick any up.  This is two coats.

Lime Basil is a beautiful bright mid-tone green that has such a nice creamy formula.  This one is another that I'd definitely pick up.  This is two easy coats.

Wintermint is the only real glitter polish in the collection.  As you can see, it's kind of a silvered-green metallic with this beautiful teal glitter.  Definitely another one I'd snatch up if you get the chance.  This is again, two coats.

Sunlit Grass is the only cream in the collection that did not have a great formula.  In fact I'd call this kind of terrible.  It has such a nice sunflower hue that it's too bad the the formula is so patchy.  I managed to catch a good swatch photo of it.  But I wouldn't bother if I were you.

Last up we have Apricot Nectar which has a really, really sweet scent, but it is really pretty.  This is another great two-coater formula.  I'd definitely pick this one up.

And that is the round-up of all the polishes.  I really hope you're able to find these on clearance at your Walgreens and take advantage of the coupons.

Have a great day and I'll see you back next time! :)

Saturday Random Swatchfest: 12/13/2014

Welcome back to another swatchfest!  Per usual, we're going to look at 10 random polishes from my collection.  If you'd like to see how each of these apply, you can find live swatches here:

Our first polish this week is Nina Ultra Pro Acai Berry.  You can find this brand at Sally Beauty Supply and if you're looking for a punchy berry/fuchsia, well look no further.  It has a really nice formula but it's definitely a color we've seen around a lot.  A

Pure Ice Speechless is our pink shade but it's more like a magenta/fuchsia.  This polish has a crelly formula and reaches this level of opacity at two coats.  I totally enjoyed the squishy nature of this polish.  A

This incredible, bright orange/coral is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Firey Island.  A bit of a mix between a cream and a crelly, this applied nicely and the color was just amazing.  I'm not sure why it was being clearanced at CVS but I was lucky to find it.  A

In our "yellow" spot we have Julep Sally which is more of a buttercup mixed with an orange/peach. This one has an unfortunate formula.  Even though I achieved this level of opacity at two coats, it didn't apply smoothly or self-level.  C+

Zoya Giovanna is our green polish and oh. my. amazing!  This is two easy coats and I absolutely love this emerald shimmer.  I must say it did stain around my fingers a bit when I went to remove it, unfortunately.  A-

China Glaze Blue Sparrow is a very bright, medium blue with tons of silver shimmer running throughout.  It is on the sheer side, so at two coats(which is what you see here) you don't really get it opaque enough which is a bummer.  It's a little thin and runny, and if it weren't for the amazing color, I'd say toss this one.  It does dry matte and look amazing with a topcoat.  If you don't want to take my word for that fact- watch my video review for live application with topcoat.  B-

Our purple polish is L'oreal Lilac Coolers which is an incredibly sheer purple jelly.  This is three coats, and you can see how far we are from opacity.  Not worth your time, although it might be nice for a jelly sandwich.  C-

Sparitual Jazz is our neutral polish today.  I wasn't aware when I purchased it- but this dries to a textured finish- it was a nice surprise.  It's a very dark gray- almost black- that has tons of silver shimmer running throughout.  You can do one coat, but I've shown you two.  A

Sation Class Clown is our glitter polish this week and I've shown you one coat over Zoya Giovanna. It's a very sheer green with micro glitters and larger pink and blue hexes.  This is probably my favorite way I've tried to wear it so far.  It doesn't look like much on it's own and over a light cream it isn't really that great.  It's also rather thick and messy and hard to get those beautiful pink and blue hexes out.  B-

Sparitual Oasis is my A+ polish of the week.  This divine deep blue shimmer that dries matte is from the 2014 Fall/Winter Wander collection.  This is a one-coater but I've shown you two here.  It looks amazing with topcoat, and here's evidence:

I hope you found something here you enjoyed and please leave me a comment below about what your favorite polish of the week was.

Misa Fall/Winter 2014 Collection with Live Application

Hey loves.  You may know that I really enjoy the brand Misa, but it doesn't get a lot of show on blogs and youtube channels.  I recently reviewed their Fall/Winter collection for 2014 and I did a live application review for you here:

There are a total of 12 polishes in this collection- which is huge- just like a China Glaze or OPI collection.  They didn't name it, which is strange, but it's made up of beautiful shimmering shades. Let's take a look:

First up there's this dusty deep blue/teal shimmer called The Night is Blue.  This was two lovely coats, no trouble with opacity here.  This is one of the most pigmented polishes in the collection.

My favorite polish in the collection is called Blue Yonder but I actually think it looks more like purple or indigo.  I am soooo in love with this polish.  It's a perfect two-coater cream with tons of shimmer and you know that the color is what I love the best.

This deep python green with gold/green shimmer called Cricket Symphony is one of my other favorites.  This is another very pigmented polish in the collection.  Of the darker shades in the collection(there are four that look very similar) this one is my favorite.

The first lighter shade we're going to look at is this subdued pink that dries satin is called Dawn Chorus.  This one definitely grew on me, but compared to the darker polishes in this collection I wasn't as crazy about this one.

There a light green/silver shimmer in the collection called Glistering Treetop.  This is just barely, barely green and but it's not different enough to make it super desirable.  This one was just ok.  This is two coats.

You've seen one dark polish- that python green, but there are three other dark polishes that look almost identical.  This one is just plain dark gray and then there's a slightly blue and slightly purple one.  This is called Hour After Hour.  I'd say pass, even though it is pretty.

The slightly blue gray shimmer is called Silver Rains.  This one is lovelier than the one we just looked at, so I'd choose it first.  This is two nice coats.

The deep gray shimmer with just a tad of purple is called Sitting Careless.  I think this one isn't really as nice as the barely-blue.  It's also a little patchy.  You're looking at two coats.

There's a light copper shimmer in the collection called Sparkling Apple Cider.  This one was a bit too timid for me.  I wish it had some more punch.  You're looking at two coats, but I'd say pass.

This peachy pink shimmer is called Peaches and Cream.  This one is another really timid shade- I wish it had a little more punch as well.  However, this is another one that grew on me as I wore it.  It's just really peaceful and chic.  This is two coats.

This lovely silvered lilac is called Silver Skyline.  I really enjoyed this the most from the lightest polishes.  This is two coats and I love how it's the perfect mix of silver and purple.

Another polish in the collection that dries matte is this nice creamy, light lilac shimmer called Sunrise Dew.  Initially I didn't think I liked these light ones, but again this totally grew on me as I wore it.  I could have worn this one for a while.  This is two coats.

LeChat The City Collection with Live Application

Ok guys.  I have one of my favorite collections that I've reviewed in the past month- this is The City collection from LeChat.  6 amazing creams, I love this collection so much and there were absolutely no issues with application.  For the price point, this is also a very cost-effective brand.  If you'd like to see live application of all 6 polishes, you can find that here:

Let's look at the polishes:
City of Angels is a gorgeous subdued grape.  Two perfect coats and the formula is easy peasy.  The color is rich without being too bright.  Loved it.

I think this is my favorite of the collection...I am a gray polish maniac!  This is Fog City and it's this amazing cool gray with just a touch of something- blue or purple I'm not sure.  Maybe it's even my imagination, but I was so in love!

Next up we have this dusty spring green called South Beach.  Such a lovely calm, but still youthful green.  This one is a must-have for all of us green polish lovers out there!

They gave us an amazing ruddy red cream, again a terrific one-coater.  This is called The Big Apple. There are many great reds out there, but this one's just a little warm and that's what makes it different from others.

The bright royal blue they gave us is The Loner Star.  This is actually coming off really bright in this picture but to me it felt a tad bit more moody.  Even though- it's incredibly delicious in two coats.

Last up there's this deep, dusty sea green called Windy City.  It did stain just a bit, so maybe double up on some basecoat, but otherwise, this one is such a stunner.

And there you have it.  I really recommend you checking out this collection.  You can pick up the mini collection for just $7!  And you know you never really use up a bottle of polish, so I think it's a great idea :)

I hope you're having a great day and I'll see you back next time!

Sally Hansen Velvet Texture Collection with Live Application

Hi polish-lovers :)  Sally Hansen has a couple new displays out right now and one of them is called Velvet Texture.  There are 8 polishes in mostly subdued jewel-toned shades and they all have very very fine texture- like the finest I've seen so far :)  If you'd like to see live application of the whole collection, you can do so here:

Let's look at some photos:
First up is Crushed which is a lovely medium berry.  The formula on all of these is the same, rather nice and no hassle.  When you clean up, you have to make sure to pull away from your cuticle because they have so much pigment, the color can get messy up there.  I've done two coats here without top coat.

This almost black-navy is called Deluxe.  This is very pigmented but I didn't have any staining issues which I appreciated.  You're looking at two coats.

The other wine/berry shade in the collection is called Lavish.  This actually looks a bit patchy in the photo, but it didn't appear that way on the nail.  I love a great textured red.

This love taupe textured polish is called Lush and I loooooove it!  It's so understated and trendy.  I think it's fabulous.  This is two coats.

The first blue they gave us is Plush and it's a super pigmented teal blue.  Two coats again, just like the rest.

The other blue is this gorgeous royal blue called Regal.  This one is really a standout in the collection and if you are a blue polish-lover this is the one for you.  Again, this is two coats, and no staining here.

The purple they gave us is this lovely medium grape called Velour.  I am partial to purples, so I really enjoyed this one.  Two coats again, lovely.

Lastly, they gave us a basic black texture called Velveteen and I appreciate that they put this one in for good measure. The deep blue is so deep that you probably don't need both Deluxe and Velveteen, but this one is just as nice as the rest.  Two coats as usual.

That wraps up the whole collection.  I hope you enjoyed this review and found it helpful.  Have a great day and I'll see you back next time :)
