Wednesday Wrap-Up: 1/30/2013

Hello everybody!  Got some more cuties for ya, family far and wide.  Speaking of cuties, at this moment, little missy is sittin here with the most awesome frizz fro from her good night sleep.  So here's what my little monsters were caught doin this week.

I ACTUALLY caught up some of little gal's hair in some bobbies the other day and I know it may not seem like much, but it was crazy good mommy fun for me!

Chiquita figured out she could hold and maneuver her own fruit sauce this week.  She loves being miss independent and this is just one more example of her growing up :(

Such a goofball!

Playin rocket ship with awesome big brother!

Hmm I wonder who these two nuts belong to?? They didn't learn that craziness from me...

I caught Bug in the middle of laughing at something he thought was so funny and it was the perfect moment to snap a pic of his true countenance- it's always so hard for me to catch him off guard- but this time I did it!

Then he started goofin off- it's inevitable... do you know a kid who doesn't start makin funny faces at you when you pull the camera out?? I need to rent one of those kids sometime ;)

Happy Valentines Day a little early Grandma! We couldn't resist wearing some beautiful red today- since I look so fetching in this color :) Thanks for the purty outfit.

Yes it's actually still nice enough outside to go play on the deck! So lucky.

Boo!

Ah, is this what it feels like inside the house?

The End ;)

That's all for this week folks.  Give your babies lots of kisses!  See you with more shenanigans in a week!- Bear, Bug, and Bee.

Monday Mani: Peek-a-Boo

Gonna sneak this little post in.  Here's my Mani Monday.  I wanted to showcase a nail art technique where you paint the nail with your base color, and then using a contrasting color paint again in the same shape of your nail, but leave just a bit of space in between.  This technique is called a ruffian.

The colors I used here were Sally Hansen Insta Dry Lightening and Milani Beach Front.  Do you think you'll give this trend a try?  Of course the colors I chose were bright and obnoxious :) but you could chose maybe a nude and black.  Hope your day is going great for you!

Sunday Random Swatching 1/27/2013

Why hello, welcome to another round of swatching madness.  As always I have ten colors for you and a grade for each.

Sharon
This is Sharon from Julep, which is a dark, bold red with some shimmer.  Julep will ship you 2-3 colors a month kind when you join up as a member, but after the initial box with it's added bonuses- Julep doesn't end up being that cost effective for all you polish lovers.  I usually just decline my box each month, but during December they had a great sale and instead of you spending 10 bucks on a bottle of their polish- I was able to pick up a few for about 4 bucks a bottle, so I gave them another try.  This little beauty was included and it is just a very classic romantic red.  With fine application and finishing, I give it an A.

Flip Flop Fantasy
I really love this color, Flip Flop Fantasy from China Glaze.  As you can see it is a neon coral pink matte and it is right up my alley.  I know this is from a few collections past, and not in season as it is winter...but I don't really give a hoot.  A

Sunny
Sunny from Zoya is a bright rusty orange frost- and if you want an orange that doesn't scream "I'm wearing orange polish" this would be a safe bet for you.  Super fabulous formula from Zoya as always- have yet to be disappointed- A

Mellow Yellow
Plain old creamy yellow goodness.  I think this is three coats for opacity.  Falling just short of his buddies before him- Mellow Yellow by Sally Xtreme Wear earns an A- because it didn't really astound me.

Free Spirit
I rather enjoyed this cool, dusty apple green- Free Spirit by Pure Ice.  This is two coats and I thought it was refreshing and lovely.  A.

Blue Lagoon
This was another bottle I picked up for 75% off at CVS and Blue Lagoon by Revlon  is dainty, sweet, and well worth the buck and a half.  Who doesn't love pale blue with microglitter/shimmer? Just delectable.  A.

Grape Juice
Hmm I am so close to changing my mind and making this my A+ color, it looks almost more striking than I remember!  Grape Juice by China Glaze was just begging to be taken home and it was a real gem of a find.  I think it's in their base set so you should have a hard time finding it at your local beauty supply.  Two coats of deep purple with megawatt shimmer= love.  A.

Nouveau Vintage
Wowza- look at the dimension of this polish.  It's like a liquid sand polish, but without the texture. Shoving all those coppers and golds into one bottle- brilliance Color Club! This is Nouveau Vintage.  A.

I'm Gonna Party All Night Long
With this lovely color on my nails I really will party all night long.  A dense multi-sized bright red glitter with a few of its best friend gold hexes along for the ride- Confetti I'm Gonna Party All Night Long is so fun and definitely worth the itty-bitty drug store price tag. A.

I Only Eat Salads
So you may be wondering with today's line-up why this little color received the A+ spot and it's because it took me completely by surprise.  I expected this light Shrek green to be streaky and impossible to work with due to my experience with some other light greens, and it was just the opposite.  Two coats, thick and creamy- I Only Eat Salads by Spoiled was a home run in a bottle and so refreshing and fun to wear!

That concludes the reviews for today.  Hope you had fun and that you venture outside your comfort zone this week!

Monday Mani:Ornate Jade

Well I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you that this Monday Mani is being posted on Tuesday, but I just literally didn't have a second to sit down and post this yesterday...I take that back- I was sitting at the computer working on new cross-stitch patterns for my etsy shop when I finally had a second at the computer right before I went to bed- forgot about that- oops.  Well here is my look of the week, a little ornate jade flavor.

I was thinking about some pottery or something when I sat down to create this.  I really enjoyed the color combinations.  This is Sally Hansen Insta Dry Mint Sprint as the base and Milani Black Swift, Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Golden-I and Milani White on the Spot for the detailing.

Hope you're well and rockin some gorgeous color on your nails!

Sunday Random Swatching: 1/20/2013

Well how have your weekends been my lovelies? I had an absolutely fabulous weekend.  I had a date with my hubby where we stayed in and played xbox games we got at redbox.  What a way to feel young again and get some good laughs and quality time with my boo!  We had a lovely relaxing Saturday and Sunday- and honestly with weather like we've been having here- I don't know how you can have anything but a fabulous time!

On to the swatching.  Here are ten random pics(except for the last) from my swatched folder- one of each color and my review and grade :)

Unbreakable Heart
Eager to go first this week and move into my posted folder is Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Unbreakable Heart.  This is just your good old standard rich, lusty red with some shimmer that you've seen done for years.  A go-to one-coat polish for a night out or something to fancy-up your toes.  For being low on the exciting meter, but for being easy with one coat, I give this color a B.

Twinkle
Twinkle from Pure Ice is a juicy cantaloupe hue with some gold shimmer.  I think this color is refreshing and playful and the gold really adds some dimension. I give it an A.

Lightening
This is one of my few yellow polishes that gives full bright coverage, but it is such a pain to work with.  Maybe my bottle needed a little thinning since I had it for a few years, but it was not fun to put on or take off...even though I am so partial to yellow, I give Lightening by Sally Hansen Insta Dry a B-

Sparrow Me the Drama
OPI Sparrow Me the Drama was lush, soft, dusty perfection.  I loved how this color didn't exactly go perfect pink, it through in some dusty, make you look twice goodness.  Perfect application though.  I give it an A.

Walk on the Wild Side
I give this shade props for trying something different.  This is an almost army, almost forest green, with some microglitter shimmer in there!  This brand doesn't give you the biggest bang for your buck so it doesn't make a heavy contribution to my stash, but this one looked special enough to pick up.  Walk on the Wild Side by Essence Colour and Go gets an A from me.

Slate of Affairs
I had this color pegged as my blue selection today, but the more I look at it- it seems to definitely be a mix of purple and gray, rather than blue.  But hey, I could always have more purple around- besides this color is so lovely it deserves to go today.  Slate of Affairs by Barielle is the second color I tried from this brand and I much preferred the formula this time around. The dusty gray purple combined with that mysterious blurple shimmer is just fabulous.  A

Port-folio
Hello! This color should have been my A+ for the week, but I actually have a polish I liked even more than this- but look at that duality of color shoved into this one polish.  So yummy!  Port-folio by Color Club makes a big home run.  This is an old school pic, so not the best lighting, but even then... A.

Without a Stitch
I really liked this color on, and I picked it up on a whim from a clearance basket.  Without a Stitch by Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure is a barely tan cream and it was a refreshing surprise.  I really don't have many polishes like this in my stash because I don't trust them to apply well, but this polish did not disappoint.  A

Phoebe
Well, if you've been counting this is the tenth color, which means this polish received the highest marks this week.  I've been meaning to get my hands on this polish because it shares my name, and then come to find out it is devastatingly wonderful!  1) Matte, 2) Bright Blue, 3) Slightly Metallic.  There was absolutely nothing about this color that is not to love, and it is definitely my color of the week, if not the month!  Love Love Love A+ for Zoya Phoebe.
