Saturday Random Swatchfest 9-27-14

My bad...again :)  I totally forgot to upload this yesterday!  I'm hoping that you are acquainted with my Youtube channel, which is where I've been hiding out a lot more lately.  I uploaded our Saturday Swatchfest there, and now I'm finally getting it done here.  If you'd like to watch the live application of all these polishes you can do so here:

Let's look at some untried polishes from my collection!

First up we have Sinful Colors Hot Chili which is a fiery red with tons of holographic pieces in it. I'm not really in love with this polish.  I don't feel that it applies nice and evenly.  This is two coats and it didn't quite get opaque.  I give it a B-

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Coral Reef is a perfect coral cream.  You really don't need to look elsewhere.  This is a perfect one-coater.  It's one of my bottles that actually has a substantial amount of polish missing from the bottle because I love it so much :)  A

This gorgeous orange/coral with tons of gold shimmer is called Georgia and it's from the brand Julep. I wish I had better things to say about this polish besides the fact that the color is stunning. Other than that- it's kind of a mess to apply and this brand is enormously over-priced.  B

A great staple among yellows is Revlon Colorstay Buttercup.  This is still a bit patchy at two coats unfortunately.  It's such a gorgeous shade of barely-there-yellow that it really would be magic if it worked at two.  I still think it's nice though and I give it a B+

Make Mine Lime from Nicole by OPI is this very sheer lime shimmer.  I've shown you three coats here and even still it's not opaque.  I love the color, but I just don't like having to classify this polish as a topper, thereby making it more work.  I like easy polishes :)  I give it a C

This perfect sky blue cream is China Glaze Bahamain Escape.  I've shown you two coats here, but you only need one.  It is perfection and one after one swipe you'll understand why I place it in such high regard.  You can find this in the core collection at any Sally Beauty Supply.  Get it!  A

Another polish you can find at Sally Beauty Supply, this is Lavender Highlight from FingerPaints. Honestly, I don't love this one- it's not that even at two coats- there are a lot of other purples out there that you'll enjoy more.  B-

OPI Get in the Expresso Lane is my neutral polish of the week.  This brown is so lusciously deep and it actually almost leans green to me.  This polish comes from the 2011 Touring America collection.  This is two easy coats, and you may be able to get away with just one.  If you love an almost black-brown...you will love this one.  A

Oh wow, I love this vibrant indigo glitter in a clear base from Sephora by OPI.  It's called Indi-go with the Flow.  All the glitter is the same shade, but there are at least three sizes of polish.  This looks so nice over many polishes and I've shown it to you here over Sinful Colors Curry Up.  A

For my A+ polish of the week, I give you Zoya Sansa from the Fall 2014 Ignite collection.  This is a lovely deep purple and it's filled with green/gold shimmer.  So, so perfect and the name is so much fun.

That's it for today!  Did you find anything here you liked?  I hope you're having a great day and I'll see you back tomorrow :)

Zoya Entice Fall 2014 Live Application and Review

Hello Darlings!  I have another fabulous Fall collection for you today.  This is the Zoya Entice collection which is made up of 6 gorgeous creams.  As usual, Zoya does cream polish impeccably well.  These are deep and delicious.  If you'd like to see live application of these polishes, you can do so here:

First up this gorgeous burgundy/brown called Claire.  If you are a sucker for deep reds, you're going to go crazy over this one.  It's such a perfect one-coater but I've shown you two.  Typical for Zoya, this glides on like sheer perfection and is incredibly glossy even without top coat.

Next up is one of my faves!  This is Genevieve, a dusty, steely gray cream.  I can wear this shade at any time of year, for any occasion.  This is two beautiful coats, and you do need two for this one, but it's perfection once you have the second coat on.

The super-sweet raspberry/purple cream is Margo.  Oh my how lovely this polish is.  It's another great one-coater but I've shown you two.  I just love this shade, it's so cheery and delicious.

There is one nude/brown in the collection and it's called Nyssa.  This one feels a little caramel to me, which I really enjoy. This glides on just like the rest the polishes in the group.  I really wasn't sure if I'd like this one, but once it was on I really enjoyed it.  I've shown you two coats here.

They gave us a gorgeous glossy navy blue called Ryan.  I've shown you two coats here, but you only need one.  This is a great navy is a season where many, many brands are doing navy.  No staining here, so don't worry about that.

Last up is another raspberry shade, but this leans more red than purple and it's called Veronica.  You really only need one coat here even though I've shown you two.  This is another one of my favorites- this is so richly pigmented and classic.  I'm in love :)

Those are all 6 shades.  Have you had your eye on any of these?  Let me know which one your favorite is and what your favorite colors to wear for Fall are.  I hope you're having a great day and I'll see you back tomorrow.

China Glaze Apocalypse Collection Live Application and Review

Hi Loves!! I have a really fun review for you today.  I've been looking forward to the Halloween collection from China Glaze for this year and I finally have it in my hot little hands.  It's made up of 6 polishes, but one is repromoted(Ghoulish Glow) so basically 5 new, fantastic shades/textures/formulas for Halloween!  If you'd like to see the video review done on the collection where you can see live application, you can do so here:

Ok, so I'm totally in love with all of these; let's take a look:
First up, one of my very favorites, this is the poison green with black specks all throughout and it's called But of Corpse.  This dries semi-matte and it pretty much a one-coater.  It does sort of crack at one coat when it dries so fast, so I'd definitely do two.  I've shown you two here and I really feel this is a showstopper from the group!  A must-have for me!

Another super cool polish from this collection is called Don't Let the Dead Bite and it's a solid two-coater.  The base of the polish is a little sheer but it's flesh-toned so it blends in with the skin.  There is tons of shiny red glitter in this polish and I wonder if they played with whether the glitter should be matte or not.  I really feel this polish is unique and perfect for the season!  It really looks like blood splatter.

This rich, deep copper glitter in a black base is called Getting to Gnaw You.  You can probably wear this at one coat because it's on the thicker side, but I've shown you two here.  I'm not quite sure what this looks like to me...maybe the dirt you'd have to dig your way out of if you were unearthing yourself from the grave!

Here's the best shot I could get of Ghoulish Glow because I'm not the best photographer- but obviously it glows in the dark :)  I wouldn't say it's better or worse than any other glow-in-the-dark polish I've tried though.

A sister to the green polish I showed you first, this is I Love Your Guts.  This has the exact same formula as the green, and has that same interesting metallic feel while still being matte.  These two are kind of textured feeling, which makes it even more interesting.  This is two coats.

Finally, they included a glitter in a clear base.  This is Rest in Pieces and there are micro black and orange glitters here, larger black and orange, and then orange bar glitters.  The orange is holographic so that gives it that little something special.  This is two coats.

I hope you found something here that you like!  Happy Early Halloween and I'll see you back next time!

Braun Influenster Box

Hey guys.  Today I have a very different kind of post.  I was sent a box from Influenster to review a digital thermometer from the brand Braun.  If you don't know what Influenster is- go here.  I'm not being paid for this review, I'm just telling you my honest feelings about the product because I agreed to when they sent it to me.

First of all...if you have kids...you need a digital thermometer and I had misplaced mine and so I was like- yep, send me that thermometer because it just so happens that the last one I bought was from Braun.  I'm going to show you the pictures I took and then I'll give you a little review, but I'm hoping you've tried this brand if you're a momma of little ones because it definitely helps with peace of mind.

Here is the box the thermometer was shipped in

The thermometer has a base that it sits in to help keep things clean and easier to stack in your medicine cabinet.

It came with 20 lens filters.  These you dispose of so that you have a clean read every time.

The thermometer has an easy, comfortable hold with large buttons

The display has large numbers so it's easy to read the temperature you're concerned over.

Overall, I really do prefer this thermometer.  Like I said, it's the brand I have turned to in the past.  I don't really feel the need to try anything different and it has a reasonable price.  Do you remember when you were a kid and you had to stick that thermometer under your tongue for a couple minutes and it felt like it took forever and kinda hurt?  Well this makes it so much easier- but you know what?  Lately at the pediatrician they are using a technology that just has to touch the forehead and it will read the temperature.  Truthfully I'd prefer that- it's even more sanitary and even easier, but hey- probably way out of my price range.  If you've never tried a digital thermometer(and I'll be surprised if you haven't) then I wholeheartedly recommend this one to you :)

I hope you're having a great day and I'll see you back tomorrow!

Ciate First Impressions and Live Swatches

Well hello there!  How's everybody been.  Hopefully I've not been leaving you too lonely over here. If so, head over to my youtube channel.  I'm much more active over there these days :)  Today we're going to look at some polishes from the brand Ciate.  This was my first interaction with the brand and I purchased the polishes at Marshalls.  If you'd like to see my live application of the polishes- you can do so here:

So, let me just preface by saying these polishes retail for about $15 dollars at Sephora and I got mine for $4.  I would definitely say that's much more of an appropriate price for the likes of these polishes. They really aren't anything special, and I will be surprised if I purchase any more from the brand.  I didn't have any issues with the formula, they were just all regular two-coaters, but they really lacked anything special that I feel would warrant the high price tag.  Having said all that, I used two coats for each of the 5 polishes I felt the same about each- just kind of meh.

Espadrilles is a shimmering red with plenty of gold in there.

This deep burgundy cream is called Guest List.

Next I tried out Holiday Blues which is a nice blue cream, but nothing I haven't seen before.

The most interesting shade I found was Stiletto which is a deep grass green.

Last up we have Vintage which is an green/gray cream.

Those were all five polishes that I tried.  Like I said, they're worth a look-see if you are trying them at clearanced price, but I wouldn't suggest this brand at full price.  If this is your favorite brand ever, I'm sorry, but that is just my opinion.  I hope you're having a great day and I'll see you back next time.

Orly Sparkle Live Application and Review

Good Morning Babes!  Last week I put up a video version of this review of the Orly Sparkle Holiday 2014 collection up on my channel and if you'd like to check that out to watch live application, you can do so here:

This collection is comprised of 6 polishes are these are nothing if not sparkly!  Pretty much every polish has an element of glitter and holographic in it.

First up we have this gorgeous warm gold holographic called Bling.  This is two coats and it's perfection.  This dried semi-matte and is one of my favorites of the collection.

This pretty pink microglitter resting in a blue holographic is called Explosion of Fun.  As you can see, not really opaque at two coats, and it's rather thick so I wouldn't suggest a third.  I think this will make a gorgeous topper.

They gave us a glitterbomb called...Glitterbomb :)  I've shown it to you here over another polish- it's definitely a topper.  It has a clear base with micro holographic glitter and then hex glitter of every color in the rainbow.  This one is the real explosion of fun!

The other straight up holographic in the collection is the silver sister to the gold I showed you above and this one is called Mirrorball.  I love this one just as much as the gold.  It has a strong linear holographic pull.  This is two coats and it's perfection.

This lovely teal microglitter is called Steal the Spotlight.  It is also not quite opaque at two coats but it's wearable.  Inside the teal are these interspersed pink holographic hexes.

Last up is this super fun and quirky glitter called Tinsel that has micro red glitters, slightly larger red hexes and holographic green bar glitters.  These bar glitters are long and hairy and I would usually really dislike it but I think it's perfect for the holidays.  So fun!  This is a clear base and I've shown you two coats over Bling.

How do you feel about this collection, and will you be picking any of them up?  I hope you're having a great day and I'll see you back next time.

Saturday Random Swatchfest 9/20/2014

Hey loves.  It's that time of week again.  Saturdays are so fun because we get to look at the untrieds- the polishes that aren't debuting currently in a new collection.  Let's give these little ladies some time to shine!  As you know, I pull 10 random polishes from my collection that haven't ever appeared on my blog or channel and we swatch them and I rate each polish.  If you'd like to see the video version of swatchfest, you can do so here:

For red, I'm showing you this amazing red/orange cream from Avon.  It's called Tangtastic and I'm so in love.  This is practically a one-coater but I've shown you two.  It glides on, wears fantastically and I just couldn't take it off my nails.  A

Pink is Spoiled Kickin' the Habit which is a lovely medium to hot pink crelly.  This is gorgeous and if you're a pink fanatic you will love this polish.  No issues with application; it's a great two coater! A

This lovely warm peach/orange is called Hazard and it's from Sinful Colors.  I think you can find this one in their core line- at least I hope so because it's a fabulous orange cream.  I don't feel the shade is daunting- in fact it's probably one of the easier ways to wear orange polish.  This is two coats and I had no issues.  A

Say hello to Mimosa Bouquet from NYC.  This color is rather lovely, as pale as it is and with that lovely shimmer, but this one is a pain to apply.  It's streaky and sticky and didn't self-level very well. I'd say pass on this one if you see it around.  Don't be tempted by it's siren, pale yellow ways...there are better yellow polishes out there that are much more worth your time.  C

Julep Shenae is repping for green today.  As you can see, this is barely green, but it totally still qualifies.  It's like an icy sea green with tons of iridescence.  I thought this applied rather nicely at two coats and even though I don't subscribe to Julep anymore, I am thankful I received this polish.  A

China Glaze First Mate is our blue polish this week.  If you don't own this polish- you should.  It's such a gorgeous dusty navy and it's a one-coater.  I've shown you two here for consistency, but you can totally get away with one.  It doesn't stain and applies like a dream :)  A

Another one-coater is our purple polish from Orly and it's called Wild Wisteria.  This is a very deep, and dusty purple.  This one's so deep that it can look black on the nail, so if you're looking for that kind of shade- you can pick this one up in the core line from Orly either at Ulta or at Sally Beauty.  A

For neutral I'm showing you Nicole by OPI A-Nise Treat from the Gumdrops collection which was all textured polishes.  This one is a lovely black texture with tons and tons of silver in there.  I've shown you two coats here and it's nice and opaque.  A

For glitter I have Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Indi-glow and I'm sorry to say that I can't remember when I picked this one up.  I have a feeling that it was limited edition and I'm sorry about that.  But this is a lovely color- this indigo jelly base with green to gold holographic hexes in there. Unfortunately this polish is rather thick and goopy, but if you don't care, well then you'll really enjoy this one.  I've shown you two coats.  B

For my A+ polish this week, I have non other than the absolutely breathtaking Do You Have this Color in Stock-holm? from OPI.  If you haven't picked this color up yet, you should splurge and do it. I only snatched two from the Nordic collection(this one and the turquoise) and I literally cannot believe how divine this shade is!  If you love purple cream polish, you need this polish :)  I've shown you two coats here.  It definitely needs two coats for opacity but I'm not complaining.

That's it!  Which polish was your favorite of these 10 and what were you wearing on your nails this week?  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
