Saturday Random Swatchfest 6/21/14

Welcome to this week's random swatchfest.  What you'll find here is 9 random shades from my swatched folder that have never been featured on my blog yet, and one A+ color of the week that I chose to feature.  I hope you find something you enjoy.  If you want to watch live application of each of these polishes, you can do so here:

Let's get to some photos:
Revlon Top Speed Infamous is a gorgeous fiery coral red that is a cream with a tiny bit of squish and lots of shine!  As usual, none of my swatches are shown with topcoat, so you know what you're getting just on its own.  This is two coats, and applies like a dream.  All you red-lovers out there will really enjoy the perfection of this polish.  A

China Glaze Unrefined is a dusty or mauvey pink texture.  This comes from a whole textured collection that China Glaze released that has no shimmer, unlike some of the earliest textured polishes like liquid sand.  I think that makes it unique and I really did end up liking it as a whole.  And, for me if I'm going to wear pink, I might as well do it in a refreshing way.  This is two coats.  A

Sinful Colors Coral Riff is very similar to the polish I showed you for red today, but I do feel it leans more orange.  Additionally it is packed with very fine blue and hot pink shimmers.  I think that makes this one really special.  Sheer on the first coat, but definitely builds up on the second.  This was released in the Simmer Down collection this Summer.  You're looking at two coats.  A

This is two coats of the uber-bright Orly Glowstick but I think I'd either go for a third coat, or just layer it over white/yellow to get opacity.  You don't need the white to make this a true neon, but because it's a yellow polish, it is naturally more sheer.  I really like this polish for how in your face it is.  Obviously not every day wear if you have an office job, but every polish has its time and place. A

This green apple cream delight is Julep Fiona and it is a nice thick two-coater.  It dries semi-matte on its own, which I think also adds to how fun this polish is.  You're looking at two coats, and I really don't have another polish just like this one.  Lovely.  A

Ulta Maine Attraction is a dusty sea blue cream.  It definitely needs a second coat but I think it evens out really nicely.  Such a nice cool, Fall blue in my opinion.  You see two coats here.  A-

Wow, I love OPI Vant to Bite My Neck.  This deep, sultry violet was released in the Spring 2013 Euro Central collection and I have found it being clearanced at Marshalls, so be on the look out if you missed out on most of this collection originally(like me).  This is two coats for good measure.  A

e.l.f. Copper is a radiant copper metallic polish that kinda shows some brush strokes, but for the most part its pretty decent.  Also, you're only paying a dollar for it if you hit up one of the very frequent 50% sales that e.l.f. has online.  I'd definitely look out for that if you're doing any kind of e.l.f. shopping.  I'm not crazy about metallic polishes right now, but this one really does glow.  B+

For my glitter polish today, I present Nicole by OPI Inner Sparkle over China Glaze Starboard.  This polish was released in the Selena Gomez collection, among a bunch of other glitters, that I didn't really bother picking up at the time.  When I found this one clearanced I snatched it up and was really pleased with the quality that the soft pink and purple have when combined with the gold.  Not sure it's worth full price, but I'm happy with it.  A

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pacific Blue gets to have the position of A+ polish of the week.  As I'm sure you all know by this point, Pacific Blue as we know it has changed into a goopy, jelly deep blue with shimmer. Having no resemblance to the original, the new concoction is definitely a mess and not worthy of the name, so I give you Pacific Blue The Original as the A+ polish of the week.  You're looking at one coat, non-staining brilliance.  I hope you are able to find a bottle of this before they are all gone if you're still searching.

Another week gone by; another swatchfest done!  I hope you found something that peaks your interest and leave me a comment letting me know what you're A+ polish of the week is.  So glad you stopped by to spend a little time with me today.  I'll see you back tomorrow and have a fabulous day!

The Works

Hey guys, I didn't have a title for today's look, it's just kinda me.  I love graphic designs, and when you leave little gaps in the pattern and not quite fill it all in, I think it makes it rather interesting.  Other than that, everything is awesome; life is great; let's enjoy the small things!  Here's the look:

The base polish is Salon Perfect Pure Azure and here it is at two coats:

Just short and sweet today.  I hope you get out your polishes and play and have a fabulous day!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you back tomorrow for our swatchfest.

Julie G Cruise Collection Live Application and Review

Hey loves :)  It's time for another collection review.  I've had these most of these little ladies in my collection since they first released, but I picked up the rest the other day with the intention of doing a review for you. I'm sorry I didn't have these up for you before now, but I've seen these be restocked at my Rite Aid and that means that you might have the chance at finding these.  Originally I assumed this would be a quick promotion that would only be in the stores for a few weeks and then sayonara.  However, since they've been restocked at least one time I'm going to review them after all- in the the hopes that this will help any of you that have been on the fence over which(if any) colors to choose.  Here is the live application video and review:

Let's get to some photos:
This super bright sunny yellow cream is perfect in two coats, almost one!  Sorry for the little bubble I got on one nail- but truly this polish is fabulous.  For a yellow polish lovers- I fully recommend this little lady!

Next, let's look at the perfect-for-Summer red/coral in the collection.  This one's a perfect two-coater and really provides a roundness to the collection.

The orange/peach shade in the collection is called Old San Juan and it's formula is a little thin, kind of like the blue you'll see later on.  It evens out nicely with the second coat however.  You know I don't love orange polish, but this one is definitely a winner!

This beautiful pink/purple hybrid is Rio de Janiero and it has a fabulous formula.  This was nearly a one-coater and it applied so effortlessly.  I REALLY underestimated this polish.  Perfection!

You'll notice by the length of my nails I didn't swatch these last two in the same batch as the first four I showed you.

This lovely sea green with blue shimmer is Tahiti.  It's a perfect two-coater and the shade is divine!  The blue shimmer really makes this one something special.  I adore all of these polishes so it's hard to pick favorites, but this is definitely one of them.

Lastly, I have the gorgeous Santorini.  This one is a tiny bit patchy- as you can see, even at two coats it's not absolutely opaque, but it's definitely workable.  The color just blows me away so I can say this is another one of my favorites.

So those 6 polishes make up the fabulous Cruise collection.  It can't be a mystery that I love this collection.  I know the bottles are a little smaller than say China Glaze and OPI, but I think these are definitely worth the price tag and especially when Rite Aid puts them on sale once in a while- I'd say snag a bunch!  I hope this review helped you out and let me know what your favorites are and if you pick any of these up.  As always, see you back tomorrow.

Weekly Wednesday Wrap-up 6/18/14

Hi Dear Ones far and wide.  It's time for our weekly photo roll to catch you up on what's goin on in our neck of the woods.  We hope you are all happy and well and can feel our love for you even though we're so far apart right now :)  Here are this week's photos:

First off- it was Father's Day and so we had a little man who wanted to be in charge of cooking a special meal.  The meal we made??  Lemon Bars of course :)

Bear also organized our dvd collection.  What a stud...ok, he was just helping- but he came up with this convenient sorting location and arrangement.

Soon after, the boys left to visit with their dad for a while and here are a few pictures of their adventures thus far!

Dominoes with Grandma

He's kickin' tail!

Looks like Bug found a new balancing device- he has one at home that he's constantly on- just don't break the baby toys!  Can't believe he's 8 years old now! :)

Ultimate Wii competition!

Havin' lunch on the road trip.  Bug looks more and more like his dad every day :)

Sweet brothers

Yes, this is Bug, the blondie

Hiking with Dad in Zion National Park

Man, this looks cool!  Bear said this was the scariest part because there was a huge drop to the left and the walkway wasn't super sturdy!

A shrine to the Gods...glad there were no snakes under those rocks

Lol, I love my kid's humor

Happy Bug!!
Thanks to Dad and Granny for these pictures

They're having such a great time and we took the opportunity to give little Bee some quality alone time with her parents.  Just in perfect timing- Tim was awarded a bonus at work and we decided to take Bee to Disneyland for her first time.  This meant we got to do all the girly and toddler things without bothering her brothers:

Just entering the Park, with Minnie right behind us but we couldn't meet her since she was about to go on break.  Boy she must get really hot standing out in the sun, poor lady!

Getting ready to meet Aurora, Ariel, and Cinderella!

Lol, Bee was in shock and Ariel was so gorgeous and sweet to little lady!!

When little Bee saw Cinderella she gasped!  It was the cutest thing and she felt so special!

We couldn't get her to smile lol, she was just too shocked!

Next we got in the 3-hour-long line to meet the Frozen princesses and while one person was waiting in line, the other took Miss Bee on rides.  First off- the carousel

Waiting in line for the Dumbo ride!

First high-flying ride of the day!

Boy, she hated waiting in lines, but we have happy girl once she's on the ride lol

Then it was that special time of day when she finally got to meet Elsa and Anna!  And there's the smiles!

They were so sweet and talked to her for a while about Olaf's carrots and little lady's dress :)  What sweet girls!  They really were outstanding!

Sweet hugs!

She passed out waiting for the parade to start, but I think she's glad she woke up for it because she got to see some of her favorites!

Waving at Minnie and Mickey

The second time the parade passed through we went on It's a Small World, twice in a row because no one was in line.  She loved it!

Goofy's House

And her first roller coaster- in the front row no less... Here she is raising her arm during the ride, no prompting from mom, I think she just saw everyone else doing it.

Then we stayed for fireworks(which were amazing- especially Tinkerbell!) and we traveled home :)

We also had an IKEA trip where we had to get this ice cream, of course!

And then off to the Burbank mall- which is bomb btw- and Miss Bee got to have this awesome adventure!  She was scared but didn't want to get off lol, it was pretty funny- she didn't jump but just hung on and went for a ride.  What a blast!

Ok, who's heard of snow cream?? We stumbled upon this shop in that mall where it's like shaved ice, but it's shaved cream- and you can get it in all these flavors and it just melts in your mouth....soooooo good people!!

Lastly, I just gotta wonder- who teaches these kids to just eat the insides from the oreos??  How do they know to do that if no one teaches them? lol

Funny girl :)

And that's it!  Another week, well quite an extraordinary week compared to our usual shenanigans, but that's what happens in Summer, huh?  I hope you're all up to your own nonsense and making special memories with your family.  We love you all and happy fathers day to all the fathers, and congratulations to all the graduates- including my husband- who just received his masters!  Proud of you babe!  And we'll see you back again next Wednesday :)
