Something's Fishy

Hey Hunnies- how's everybody doing today?  We're going to have a great weekend celebrating baby girl's second birthday!  She happens to share her birthday with her grandma, my mom, so that's really fun too! What are you going to be up to this weekend?  If you happen to be doing something fun a crazy this weekend this look might be right up your alley.  You know me- I love classic looks and then switching things up and just being nutty.  This one was really fun to wear.  I had on this dark gray cream from Rimmel- it's one of their new polishes that recently showed up on their display and I can do a review of about 8 of them that I picked up while they were on sale if ya'll want.  Anyway, I had this shade on called Punk Rock and I really wanted to put some fish bones on em....so I did!  Let's take a look:

Here's the shade Punk Rock on it's own at two coats:

Ok, so that's it!  I hope you enjoyed this look, and thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day everybody :)

China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection

Hey Peeps!  I have the latest textured polish release from China Glaze called the Sea Goddess Collection and it is made up of 6 polishes.  It consists of purples, blue-greens and pinks and each polish contains shimmer or glitter unlike their previously released textured polishes.  This makes each polish very feminine and sparkly and really quite lovely.  You can check out the video of the live application here, on my youtube channel:

Let's take a look at these babies!

First off is Sand Dolla Make You Holla which is a palest-of-the-pale lavender milky base with multi-colored micro glitters in it.  This is three coats and the left two fingers show what the polish looks like after 5 minutes drying time and the two on the right are directly after application.  This demonstrates how you really do need to give this polish time to settle and dry to see the textured finish.  This is a really unique polish, but it had one of the worse formulas of the bunch.  You have to be patient with this one, but if you love textured polish then you'll love all of these, no matter how much babying they need.

This radiant lovely is Sea Horsin' Around and it is one of my top three picks from this collection.  Practically a one-coat, it glides on easily and gives you no problems.  Unfortunately this one was a stainer :( so you might wanna double-up your basecoat- I certainly will when I wear this again.  So beautiful.

The darker pink from the collection, this is Shell We Dance? and it's a mid-tone pink with shimmer and silver micro-glitter.  This is another one with a great formula, easy to apply and only required two coats.  I actually preferred the other pink in this collection, but that is just color preference- I had no issues with this polish.

My favorite of the bunch is this silvered-lilac gem called Tail Me Something.  Another super easy two-coater, this is a no-hassle polish.  I just really loved how reflective it was on the nails and the color is superb.  If you pick up one from the collection, this would be my suggestion to you.

This minty green polish by the name of Teal the Tide Turns has micro teal glitters in it.  Unfortunately this was the messiest shade in the collection.  Each layer take a while to dry or else you get dragging and unevenness. You're looking at three coats and I had to work with it a bit and it's still rather patchy which is so sad because the shade is gorgeous.

My second favorite of the group is the lighter pink and I love it for all the golden shimmer.  It's called Wish On a Starfish.  This is going to be perfection for Spring and Summer and it is sheer on the first coat, but this is just two coats, and it even out so nicely.  If you like pinks you'll definitely enjoy having this polish in your arsenal.  And that rounds out the collection.

As far as textured collections go, I think this one's definitely a winner.  There's a wide range of shades and they even have varying finishes of shimmer and glittered textures.  These can be found at your Sally Beauty Supply and I see them on head2toebeauty but they are currently out of stock.  Hopefully soon they will have them back in.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Did you find something you liked?  Which was your favorite- let me know in the comments below.

Wednesday Weekly Wrap-Up 2/19/2014

Hey guys and gals, friends and loved-ones, how the heck are ya?  We are great in our neck of the woods. Besides a 24 hour flu that swept through our house, we are fine and dandy.  Tim had a work trip to Dallas again this week so it's just been me and the little rascals, but he's coming home and we all have to settle down and get serious because we've just been a bunch of goof-offs while he's been gone.  Let the photos be the evidence of such:

Missy Bee loooooves play-doh

also her birthday is this week and she's been getting special mail in the week- boy she loves getting mail!

Mr. Buggy Boy has been a happy camper- even through the flu and waking up at 2, 3, and 4 o'clock every morning this week lol.  He just has plans that he can't have sleep interfering with!

This dude has been working on his push-ups a lot lately.  Such a stud.

Missy Bee discovered that she loves carrots and celery!  Push those french fries to the side and bring me some veggies!!  That's my girl!

We had some Home Depot adventures this week which is the bestest because of THIS cart lol

and THIS hat

and THIS cutie playing peek-a-boo

and lining up watering cans...

oh and then there was this

and this

We picked up a hose and nozzle this week and that has been what the kids have come home and play with every day.

ya...he's doing that on purpose

Lastly, we of course had to have park time

and obviously bath time- where I luckily caught this awesome picture :)

I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into our week and that you have had a great week where you're at too!  Here's love from us to you!  See you next week(unless of course you're here for the nails too, which in that case I'll see you back tomorrow).  XOXO

Nail Art for Textured Polish Pt. 1

Hey friends!  Do you love nail art and love textured polishes but aren't quite sure how to combine the two? Do not fear- I have a solution here.  Here's the look I came up with to nicely accent your favorite textured polish:

All you need is a textured polish, a small detailing brush, and two colors of your choosing for the design. Here's the video where you can watch the tutorial:

A few more pictures of the design:

You could also wear this look as just accent nails like this:

The base polish I chose is Fingerpaints Midas Touch and this is two coats without topcoat:

Hope you enjoyed this look and I'll see you back tomorrow!

Live out Loud

Hey loves.  I was into wearing something really bright and bold and so I picked out a few shades that might not typically be worn together but I was going for something loud.  I kept the design more simple so that the focus would be on the colors.  Here's the finished product:

The base color is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Pep-Plum.  You're looking at two coats here:
I really like this neon purple, but I wish the formula had been a tad more opaque in two coats, but hey.  I hope you enjoyed this look and I'm so glad you stopped by!  I'll see you back tomorrow for more nail art love, and until then, xoxo.

Bright Lucite

Hi polish lover!  I have a quick look for you today featuring the polish Bright Lucite from Sinful Colors.  I had this idea to incorporate stripes and dots in this diagonal fashion and I wanted to use orange and blue together because they're complimentary colors.  However, I don't know what happened when I put the orange on the blue- it turned a little green or something lol.  Anyhow, I think the design was still acceptable but I'd probably choose different colors if I tried this again.  Here's the look:

As I said, the base polish is Sinful Colors Bright Lucite, and here it is at two coats:
This didn't have the best formula and I think it's very dupable, so keep that in mind if you like this polish.  Hope you have a great day and get out those paints!  XOXO

Saturday Random Swatchfest: 2/15/2014

Hi lovelies!! It's Saturday again, and you know what that means.  Time for 10 random swatches from my swatched folder.  Each of these ten little ladies hasn't been featured on my blog yet so its their chance to shine.  Let's take a look:
Revlon Ignite is sooo beautiful with it's faint gold shimmer running throughout.  It's like a slightly-orange red and it has so much fire within...which is probably why it has the name it does.  I think I picked this one up on clearance so I hope you can still find it if you love it.  Honestly, in my opinion, the top speed line is a little pricey for the quality of polish, so I only ever pick it up when it's on sale.  This one was a real winner though at two coats.  A

Spoiled Everyone's A-tomic is a fabulous orange/red crelly.  You're looking at two coats- but they were thick coats in order to get the opacity.  I really enjoy this shade.  It's spicy and beautiful.  If you enjoy orange polish, you'll love this one- and it's under two bucks at CVS.  A

NYC Lincoln Square Lavender is a great budget-friendly pink/rose cream.  This is two coats, and it's rare for me to be disappointed by a polish from NYC.  They give you a great product for a low price.  As you know, I don't often wear pink polish because it doesn't appeal to me as much as any other shade, but if you love it- I'm here to show you this one; it's great.  A

Nicole by OPI Sea How Far You Go is so lovely!  It's this green/gold shimmer/duochrome that I found in a Christmas gift set pairing at Marshalls.  As you can see, it's not quite opaque at two coats but still, I find it to be unique and very special.  I love the combination of green and gold.  A-

China Glaze Highlight of My Summer is a neon minty green and you're looking at two coats here.  I didn't layer it over a base of white, as you can see, but if you want the color to be even more powerful, you may want to do that.  This wasn't the easiest polish to work with, I'll admit that, but the color is just so divine, I can't fault it too much.  I still give it an A.

Sinful Colors New Wave is a gorgeous navy cream and you're looking at two coats here.  This polish came to us from the Sail la Vie collection last year, which pumped out a handful of amazing blues.  I loved finding a navy blue that isn't so dark that it looks like a black polish.  Love this one.  A

Color Club Secret Agent is this fabulously-hued violet.  I really love this color but I don't really love the finish so it's kind of a toss-up :(  On the nail this little baby is so vibrant and so stand out, but I really wish it had been a cream or crelly polish.  You're looking at two coats, and it applied well.  I guess I give it a B+ just because I would pick a different finish.

Nailtini Caviar Coctail is this gunmetal frost that I actually really didn't care for.  I received this in an Ipsy bag a few months back, and often you do receive great polishes, as you will learn about in my final color in this post, but this one was no bueno.  It might be someone else's cup of tea, but it's really not mine.  The color is too dirty and the finish shows every brush stroke.  However, the formula was great- it was practically a one-coater so that's a good thing to know about this brand- it is a high quality product.  B

Sephora by OPI Blasted Turquoise Glitter was so random.  I thought I was purchasing a regular sky blue finely-milled glitter but this was a cracked effect polish, and not really a good one...This really needed to have some kind warning that it was an effect polish for people as dense as me..."blasted" in the title didn't give it away to me.  I was not a fan of this polish... and when you do purchase polish out of the clearance bins, this is the risk you take lol.  I give it a C-

Zoya Odette is my A+ color this week.  I received this polish in my February Ipsy bag and I was OBSESSED with it all week!  It's this gorgeous mauve plum that is so smooth and creamy, just like most Zoya polishes.  This one is from the recently released Naturel collection and I love it so!  If you are unaware- the Ipsy bag is a monthly subscription service where you receive 5 items each month from different beauty companies based on a personal style profile you complete on the website.  The service costs 10 dollars for the whole bag and shipping is included.  It's a super cost-friendly way to try new products and I suggest it to anyone.  Here's a link if you wanna check it out: http://www.ipsy.com/r/7mkj and I just want to say, I am no way sponsored by this company, I just genuinely like the service :)

That's it!  Another roundup of great and some not-so-great polishes out there.  Which was your favorite of my random pics?  What were you wearing and loving this week that I should know about?  Share with me :)
I'll see you back tomorrow!  Until then, hugs from me to you.
