Tuesday Tutorial: Drippy Nails

It's Tuesday again.  Time to try something new!  The look I have for you is one I've been seeing everywhere and I just had to try it for myself.  It's super fun and I think you'll be glad when you try it along with me.

Here is what the end result looks like:

See how it's meant to look like the polish is dripping over your nail? So fun, right?

So here's what you do:

1) Pink your base color.  I love blue and orange together, but you can go with a rainbow of colors on the tips and a nude polish, or really any combo you want.  Start with your strengthening base on each nail, and then paint your base coat on each as well.  I chose to follow that up with a coat of matte polish to make a greater contrast between the two polishes on each nail.

2)Using your contrasting color and a dotting tool or toothpick place a few dots of polish on each nail and drag some of the polish up to the tip of your nail.

3)Taking the same color and your dotting tool connect your drip lines with curved lines between each and to the edge of your nail on the two sides as well.

4)Finally fill in all the space from the tip of your nail to where your curved lines are, making it a solid patch of color. Then take your top coat and only paint over the "drip" polish so that you have the contrast of matte finish on the base color, and a nice bright shine on the dripping polish.

There you have it.

The polishes pictured here are Nicole by OPI Listen to Your Momager and OPI A Woman's Prague-ative.
I hope you try this design and let me know how it turns out.

As always- just have fun and know you're fabulous!!

  2. Hey Night Owler, short nails can be just as smashin as long ones! If you are wanting to grow them you could try taking some vitamin E or rubbing it into your cuticles before you go to bed to give them strength as they try to grow out :)
