It's Tuesday and time to try something new along with me! I've been seeing these super fun diagonally sweeping french tips and wanted to give it a try. Here's the end result we're going to be going for:
So we're basically taking the traditional french tip and putting a few spins on it.
1)First you want to start with clean nails and get one layer of basecoat on them.
2)After that take your first color and a striping brush and make a sweep across the tip of your nail in a diagonal curve. This will guide how far down you will paint your tip.
3)Now take the same color and paint your nail up from the line to the tip. Make it nice and opaque for this look.
4)Now taking a silver polish and the same striper, cleaned off with acetone, paint a similarly curving line just inside your painted tip (accent nail pictured here).
5)Finally, using another complimentary color(I chose the shade used for the accent nail) and a dotting tool, place some dots helter skelter along the silver line.
6)Allow for some drying time and then finish off with your favorite top coat and you're all done.
Easy peasy and fun/fresh to look at. It's good to mix up old standards now and again. Another option here if you're not feelin the dots and you want to keep it more classic, omit the dotting step, and place the silver stripe right along the edge where your color meets your bare nail.
The colors used here are Brash Blue Dream and Green Machine - a new brand to me that I found at Payless the other day doing sandal shopping for the tykes (Yay sandal weather!) and the silver is Color Club On the Rocks from their new Spring Fiesta Collection.
Hope you enjoyed this look and that you try something new this week on your nails. I have a lot of gals tell me that they'd try out these looks if their nails were longer but I promise you it doesn't take long nails to get a great mani at home. All you need is lotion to moisture up your cuticles, a good base and top coat, and 15-20 minutes to spoil yourself with a little splash of fun on you hands that you use to do so much for others. It's high time to remind yourself that you're fun and funky fresh! Every time you look down at your hands this week you'll be glad you did :)
Over and out.

Thanks Wanda Ann! You will see me next week. I love following along as you introduce us all to more than just what's right in our back yards.
DeleteVery cute! You have some major patience and a steady hand!
ReplyDeleteSo cute and perfect for spring! Like someone above said, you must have a super steady hand... I usually get paint all over my skin when I try to paint my fingernails.
ReplyDeleteI'd be thrilled if you'd link up at this week's Off the Hook!
You always make it looks so easy! I like the new look.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing at my Real Family Fun link party.
