Tuesday Tutorial: Leopard Print

It's Tuesday again, which means it's time for you to try some new nail art- and I aim to help you there.  Today I'm featuring a look that helps us all take a walk on the wild side, leopard print.  I have to admit that in the past I have had trouble with this and it's all because of over-thinking.  But then I read somewhere that when you're making your black splotches you want to make them in "C"  and "bracket" shapes around your spots.  Using that tip, things turned out much better this time around.  Of course I had to mix it up- so the accent nail has a little glitz on it.  Hope you enjoy.

Step 1:  Paint all your nails with a base coat and then one to two coats of your favorite nude polish.  The one shown here is Spoiled Show Me Some Skin.

Step 2: Using a sandy brown color and a dotting tool place some non-uniform dots on your nails.  Not too many as you still want space to paint around them.  This is China Glaze Kalahari Kiss.

Step 3:  If you choose- you can make an accent nail using a glitzy brown polish on one nail.  I chose Spoiled Cougar Attack, and I applied it in the same manner as that in Step 2.

Step 4: Finally, taking your black polish (Milani Black Swift shown here) you make "C" and "bracket" shapes around your brown spots.  Fill in any extra space with smallish black spots as well.

Step 5:  Finish with your top coat (I finally tried Seche Vite and I am amazed at it's non-smudging compared to my other fast-drying top coats! No complaints thus far) and you're all set.

I hope you try this and let me know how it went.  Happy Painting!

  4. Such an adorable look... pinning for future reference. I can barely paint my right hand one color without painting my whole hand, but this is great. I'd be thrilled if you'd link up at this week's Off the Hook!

    1. Hey Lauren :) The secret is- don't be afraid to paint your whole hand and use a small flat paintbrush and acetone to clean up around your nail when you are done. Then, after a while you'll paint your fingers less and less ;) Gonna go check out your party now- thx for the invite!
