Tuesday Tutorial: Jelly Sandwich

Welcome again to my tutorial night! Today I'm going to answer the age-old question, "What exactly is a jelly sandwich for your nails?"  Well stick around cuz you're about to find out =D *excitement builds*

To make a "jelly sandwich" you want to pick out a "jelly" which is a polish that doesn't really go opaque on your nail even after 3-4 coats.  It has a lot of pigment, but it has so much clear polish in it that you can still see through to your nail.  Here is an example of a jelly polish:

 This is three or four coats of it on it's own in an attempt to completely cover the nail, but normally in one coat it will be quite see-through.  This color is Tip Your Waitress from Spoiled.  Another fun thing is- it's matte! The index finger has a top coat on it, the rest do not, so that you can compare.

So here's the rundown:

1) Start with your base coat of course, and then add one coat of your jelly, and one coat of your glitter, waiting appropriate drying times.  The glitter polish here is Trust Fund Baby from Spoiled.

2) Add another coat of the jelly polish.  Now you can see that all the shine from the glitter is covered up by one layer of jelly.  If you had chosen a cream polish you wouldn't even see the glitter layer at all.  I suppose you could leave it this way too- all depending on your preference for the final look.  If you want more bling ;) continue on.

3) Lastly you're going to add another coat of glitter so that your final look will show the glitter under a layer of jelly and a layer on top.  So you can see which glitters are in between the squishy jelly :) isn't it fun?
